Cerved’s Report

Editorial Design & Production Leadership

Bringing structure to complex content and an evolving production process. As Lead Graphic Designer, I led the design and production of Cerved’s 88-page annual Sustainability Report, bringing together reports, data, and stakeholder contributions into a cohesive publication covering the organization’s environmental, social, and governance initiatives.

Challenge

Maintaining clarity as the scope evolved

Initially scoped as a one-week design assignment, the project expanded as content requirements changed and stakeholder review continued.

The report needed a clear editorial structure that could hold together across a substantial volume of information and ongoing revisions. Content was developed in Italian, with an English edition planned, adding a need to accommodate language changes within the same design framework.

My responsibility was to carry the publication through that evolving process while maintaining a cohesive reading experience.

Approach

Establishing an editorial foundation

I developed the publication in Adobe InDesign using reusable styles, structured layouts, and a consistent document architecture.

That foundation established a clear hierarchy across the report and provided a repeatable approach to organizing its varied content. As material changed, I could work within an established structure and maintain consistency across the full publication.

The framework also anticipated future adaptation, including the planned English edition and subsequent annual reports.

Carrying the design through sustained review

I worked closely with stakeholders in Italy as the publication moved through nearly 30 versions, incorporating feedback and adapting layouts to evolving content.

Throughout the process, I maintained the relationship between individual page decisions and the report as a whole. Each revision needed to fit within the editorial hierarchy and preserve continuity across sections.

The engagement required sustained attention to both design and production: responding to new requirements, managing revisions, and keeping the document coherent as it developed.

Preparing for language and content changes

With Italian content forming the initial publication and English planned to follow, I built flexibility into the layouts and styles.

This approach allowed for adjustments to text length and content flow within a shared visual structure. It also created a reusable foundation for future teams to update the report while retaining its editorial language.

Outcome

An 88-page publication with a reusable production framework

The completed report brought Cerved’s ESG content into a structured editorial publication, developed through six months of international collaboration and extensive stakeholder review.

Alongside the final report, I created a reusable InDesign framework designed to support future content updates, localization, and annual editions.

The project demonstrates my ability to lead publication design through an extended production cycle, adapt to changing requirements, and maintain a consistent creative standard across a complex deliverable.
